Here we have fifteen young women, ages fifteen through twenty, who made their way from Congo, Eritrea and Burundi to Kenya as refugees. They met at Heshima Kenya, an organization that cares for unaccompanied refugee girls and young women in Nairobi. Each participated in the storytelling workshop by creating an audio photo essay. They wrote of their experiences and hopes for the future, and shot photographs to illustrate their stories. Click on each photo to hear their stories in their own words and voices.
