Here we have fourteen young women, ages fifteen through twenty, who made their way from South Sudan, Congo, Burundi, and Ethiopia to Kenya, where they now live as refugees. They met at RefuShe (formerly Heshima Kenya), an organization in Nairobi that cares for refugee girls and young women. Each participated in the storytelling workshop by creating an audio photo essay. They wrote of their experiences and hopes for the future, and shot photographs to illustrate their stories. Click on each photo to hear their stories in their own words and voices.
